Hal Jordan always dreamed of flying ever since he was a boy. As he grew up, he became a test pilot for a company that designs aircrafts. One flight went terribly wrong. His plane crashed after a close encounter with a crash-landing spaceship. Luckily, Jordan ejected out the plane before it crashed and landed safely. Jordan went to investigate the spacecraft and found a mortally wounded alien among the wreckage. Jordan wished to help the alien, but the alien, Abin Sur, said it was pointless because he was dying. With his final breath, Abin Sur gave Jordan a strange looking ring that emitted a glowing green light. Jordan puts the ring on and then transforms into the Green Lantern. With his sheer willpower, Jordan can create any constructs that he wants. He swears to protect Earth and the Universe alongside the Green Lantern Corps!
